Contribute Feedback What Friedbert Dörr doesn't like about Café Sur:
Eating is unfortunately not good even after the second visit, not even cut. the service was good this time, the hygiene is not at all (very dirty glasses.) very bad, since it is actually a great location with sun in the akazienkiez. a lot has to be changed before we go there again. we have now been disappointed for a long time and will no longer go there. This is the perfect place if you want to have a calm, nice Italian meal. I love to go to Café Sur for lunch on Sundays (especially when it's sunny, because you can seat outside). They change the menu every week, which is really nice. The pasta is homemade and everything tastes fresh. The prices are fair and the service is nice.
What i like about this location, nothing is fancy here....everything is subtle.....The wines, the friendly service and the decoration.... You will not find the fancy Bar installations, or the highly-exagerated broken tables and stools -Retro-Looks u will find in the Friedrichshain or Prenzlauer Berg area. The concentration here is on you, your company, book or good mood....so you do not even get destracted by the location. On sunny days, take a place on the corner area....the soft sun of Berlin should massage you directly on the face.
This was by far the worst restaurant experience of my life. I used to go to Cafe Sur often, as they used to have very good lunch dishes and a nice ambiente. They must have changed owners. of us tried to eat lunch. After...waiting for over an hour even though we were promised a wait time of minutes, the rude and unschooled waiter was not able to communicate, bring water, or even the cutlery necessary for our meal. The English Breakfast came with no baked beans and when we complained he mumbled do you really still want those? The quiche I ordered was, as he informed us as he brought out the other dishes eventually, and all at different times, not there. Our request for salt and pepper was met with a greasy plastic salt and pepper shaker, and the breakfast egg came without an egg spoon it took a full five minutes to produce that. When the bill came we were charged for the missing quiche. When I pointed it out, and also explained that the charge was a mystery altogether since all the items just said kitchen the even ruder older woman told us that we need not come back, and that this was the charge. Well we will not, and I'd like to warn everyone that this is a complete disaster of a cafe, and it's sad to see a nice spot in a great location take such a terrible turn
First time in my life I tried to return food. Ingredients were not fresh avocado spread brown and tasted like garbage can, salad partly brown and soggy and there was plastic foil in the fruit salad. Tried to return it very politely and immediately got...yelled at by the owner. Told me the moment I touch the food I'm obligated to pay for it. The waiters were very apologetic though and embarressed by their boss's behavior. Obviously they were used to it already.
We’ve wanted to try this place for years, because it has a great spot on the corner and it was nice to sit outside on a lovely spring day. We came for a weekday lunch. My gnocchi with cheese sauce was fine, my partner’s spaghetti...Bolognese well, he says he’s had better out of a can. Not good. Wrong drink given, service was very slow. At the end of the meal, because there was no waiter to be found, we paid inside. We were overcharged once by euros and, after questioning, only by euros. We’ll never be back
