Also went back and sat inside the following evening drinking their recommended drink 'Hugo' (sparkling wine/champagne, elderflower and mint) which was lovely and refreshing. Nice little local bar, would recommend.

There wer... read more We arrived late in Berlin and fancied a beer in a local bar before turning in. Cafe Re was genuinely around the corner from our hotel so we popped in. There were 10 of us and we managed to get a table in the smoking room which was remarkably unsmokey. The beer of choice for us was the Berliner Pilsner, a very drinkable beer, slightly heavier than a British lager but hoppy and tasty. Highly recommended. Most of the people in Cafe Re seemed to be locals and there appeared to be most of an orchestra in the main bar, plenty of instruments in cases and much bonhomie.The owner of the bar was friendly, helpful and efficient and did not hurry us out of Cafe Re at closing time. We didn't have the opportunity to dine at Cafe Re but the menu looked interesting and would be worth sampling. One to return to.
