We came here for breakfast and it is a really relaxed place that gets quite busy. People take away as well as sit in to eat; they have a counter with various cakes and pastries. The breakfast options are really good and we had the vegetarian one, which comes with a range of cheeses, fruits, bread and spreads, with a hard boiled egg. We stopped in looking for a good piece of German cake and a cup of coffee. A cake with cranberries on top looked good. the waitstaff was surly and the place was not busy. The cake was delivered and the cranberries on top were tasty. The bottom looked like a custard or a cheesecake but was neither--it had a nondescript texture and taste. Good variety of different food. Service is friendly . Location as it has to be. Kastanienallee! Toilet so la la.
We had a delicious brunch at Cafe Placebo which was a close walk from the apartment we rented. The portion size was generous. The breakfast platter for two included orange juice, caffe latte, smoked salmon, assorted charcuterie, a variety of cheeses, a generous portion of nicely cooked scrambled eggs, fruit garnish, butter, jams, honey and a basket of hot buns for €22.50 and it was ample for a family of 4!
The food is average, the staff is lazy and rude, WC “is not for customers”. Would not recommend. There are better places around.
Plazebo is located on the main artery of P'Berg. The coffees are well done and they have a nice looking array of cakes (though we were only stopping for a coffee). You have a nice view out on to a lively and fun street as well.
