It seems to be owned and operated by a... read more I can't really explain why I loved this place so much, but I did! I was in Berlin for a week and went there maybe times. It seems to be owned and operated by a family. They are very kind and sincerely ask if...you enjoyed your drink/food. They have homemade desserts--simply delicious. The coffee is simply excellent. There is an organic coffee option, and you have your choice of beans. Once I ordered an iced coffee and got something extra special that was clearly made with great care. There is a beautiful grass area outside with lawn chairs under the trees for relaxing. It's quiet. It's in a historical landmark building. It's non-pretentious and I saw a lot of kids there, playing on the lawn. They also have brunch, at least on some days. Really a pleasure. It's nice to find a top-notch coffee place that is not hipster or snobby!

A hidden cafe with a love... read more We were staying in a flat nearby and were looking for a cafe for cake, coffee and maybe breakfast. Cafe Eckstern exceeded expectation. A hidden cafe with a lovely patio terrace. It's a little sun trap with chairs, deck chairs and blankets provided to make...the patio even more appealing! Just from seeing locals lounging, reading and chatting in the sun will draw you in...but it gets better. A cozy interior the staff are really nice and spoke English. In addition to coffee (you can choose from different beans), lattes, cappucinos etc, they have a good assortment of cakes, salads and sandwiches. Everything we ate was really nice. Nothing fancy but nice. Utterly inviting...and wait for it...wait for it...FREE WIFI which isn't all that common in Berlin due to stringent illegal downloading laws.

Nice little corner coffee with friendly service and super delicious bagels. There is also a choice between different coffee beans.
