Reviews - Nico's Hideaway
Reviews summary
Located in a prime spot with a wonderful atmosphere, this restaurant boasts excellent food quality and friendly service. However, some patrons were disappointed with the timing of their meals, finding that dishes were brought out too quickly. Despite this, the octopus appetizer received high praise. Burgers and fries were a hit, although the ambiance was not as impressive. On the other hand, a group was thoroughly pleased with their mussels, ribeye steak, and scallops. The menu features amazing dishes like ahi tuna, steak, and pork belly tacos. Dessert options were limited, but the food was so good that there was no room left anyway. Nora's was a delightful anniversary dinner choice, with fresh Sabzi, delicious hummus, and impressive staff. Happy hour at this establishment is a great deal, offering tasty dishes and excellent service. Overall, despite some timing issues and occasional lackluster dishes, this restaurant is one to try for its food quality and friendly atmosphere.

I love this neighborhood place. The happy hours treats are delicious and the presentation is lovely. I am fond of the Seared Ahi Tuna while my husband loves the sliders and fries. Thanks for the great food. View all feedback.

My family and I have always enjoyed dining at this restaurant since our first visit. However, our Valentine's Day experience was a bit disappointing. The service and quality of some of the dishes we ordered were not up to their usual standards. View all feedback.

The food was better than our last visit a year ago and was good value. The service was overall good, but there was a longer than ideal wait of 20 minutes after we finished our main course. We plan on returning. The booths were slightly better than the table we were seated at, which was near the exit door.

This restaurant is perfect for a special occasion. The portions are generous and beautifully presented. All the dishes are delicious. The prices are a bit higher than average for a local spot, but overall, it is a great dining experience.
The location/vibe is excellent. The staff/servers were friendly and attentive. The food was a great disappointment. We all ordered different plates and nobody was happy with anything. Even the desert was subpar... how do you make a bad cheesecake? My wife thought her scallops had been frozen for a long time, and they sat on but a dollop of risotto... at around $30 it was a total rip-off. My chicken was hard and dry and the wine sauce just weird. I awoke in the middle not the night with a terrible stomach ache. The salad was like spring mix tossed on a plate... nothing special about it at all. Then the bill came... and for four people (only one person had a drink that wasn't called tap water) the tab was over $220. Which for what we had, hurt.
I have eaten at Nico's when I lived in Berkeley 15 20 times. It's a real gem. Wine priced reasonable and so is food. Service is fast and neighborhoodly. When you are ready to give 4th Street a rest, Uber over to Nico's for a fresh prospective in Berkeley. Only down side is the seat cushions need replacing so bring a pillow. ;

I've been back three times since they opened... it's good. I make my way through the menu, but recommend the shells, ribeye steak and the scallops! Do not miss their signature cocktails that they are handcrafted without pretentious. Friendly, competent staff. Comfortable dining room. Cool outdoor deck overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge.
Service was friendly and accomodating but a little slow. Pork belly tacos and pork belly Mac and cheese were delicious and my favorites of the night!! (I had seen pork belly Mac and cheese on their website but they didn't have it on menu anymore. She talked to the kitchen and made it happen for us though! We got one pork belly with Chipotle and one pork belly without. My favorite was the one without the Chipotle but both were fabulous!! The Chicken sliders were a little dry but good flavor. Ahi tuna appetizer was good and a decent size too! Esp for HH pricing. Fries were tasty but nothing to write home about. Atmosphere was really nice! Cozy but also more on the modern side. Would def recommend for date night or happy hour!
Wow. That was probably one of the tastiness sandwiches ever. combine that with the lovely feeling of the soft bread against the crunchy fish. I'm definitely going back.

First time here for my husband and I, definitely won't be our last!!! We loved it! Brunch was amazing. Eggs Benedict for me and fennel sausage scramble for my hubby. Service was excellent! Thanks to all at Nicos for making our first experience there a great one!!!
Such a wonderful opening tonight! Nico's is such a great addition to North Berkeley. The new decor was cozy and beautiful! The mussels were delicious. Robert was great behind the bar and we will definitely be back!

Happy hour menu between 3 and 6 is a great value. Can make a nice meal for late lunch or dinner for a reasonable price. Service is excellent. Happy to have Nico’s is the neighborhood.
Good food. Great location and reasonable parking. The bar looks like a fun hang out.
