Reviews - La Mission
Reviews summary
La Mission delivers authentic Mexican flavors in a vibrant, historic setting—once an old Taco Bell—offering satisfying portions and fresh, well-prepared dishes. Highlights include crispy carnitas, flavorful shrimp burritos, and standout mole poblano, complemented by perfectly fried chips and excellent horchata. The ambiance is cozy with inviting outdoor seating and convenient parking. While certain items like rolled tacos and some burritos have been hit-or-miss in seasoning or moisture, the overall experience is warm and genuine, with friendly service and a diverse menu. Desserts and beverages add to the appeal, making it a favored spot for both casual dining and takeout.
Was Summer at La Mission a mag?
I had a rather authentic and quite tasty carnitas burrito. Could it have contained more meat? Absolutely, but overall, it was pretty good. The iced tea, on the other hand, was overly brewed, but there's not much you can do about that. I really enjoyed the atmosphere; it was exactly what I needed. View all feedback.
What Avi K dislikes about La Mission:
The flautas were drenched in guacamole and sour cream, but no amount could mask the dryness of the shredded meat inside! The tortilla soup, which I had previously enjoyed much more, tasted off this time. It was saltier, but even worse than the saltiness, it had a slight bitterness—likely due to an excessive use of oregano. View all feedback.

Dude this restaurant is amazing. I got their nachos and let me say, never in my life have i CLEARED a bowl of nachos like I did. The portions are also very big so you can have more for later or the next day. Straight up, even toppings I usually don't enjoy on my nachos, I ate up. Also have had their burritos in the past, always on point. I can trust La Mission to be there for me when nobody else will. Service: Delivery Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5
Delicious tasting Mexican food with a lovely patio in the back. Prices are a little more expensive than other Mexican places but they do have quality food. Recommend going to try their breakfast menu! Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Can someone please tell me why I was charged over $38.00 for two burritos? Are they going out of business?
The super burrito was overpriced at $20 and lacked flavor. However, the patio was lovely, and the cucumber water was refreshing.
I ordered the fried fish tacos, but they were overwhelmed with cabbage and wrapped in a cold corn tortilla. I also tried the chicken nachos, which had soggy chips that turned ice cold in just a few minutes. The total came to $36.
The mole burrito was excellent. The portion size was just right—not too cheap but also not overly expensive.
Update 8-5-24): I just ordered to go 1 enchiladas verde plate for $23.70 with tax for dinner and am very disappointed and still left hungry. The two enchiladas were tiny with little amount of chicken and majority of to go order was too much sauce added to make it look like a lot of food but if i am paying $23.70 for 2 enchiladas i expect more for my money. I now have to reheat leftovers because i am still hungry. Save your money and time and go buy food elsewhere. I ordered 2 carne asada burritos $29.66 total) and my only question was where was the beef; 90% was rice and bean filler and very little meat and cheese which i had to pay extra for. I was hoping La Mission would be different because i stopped going to Chipotles 3-4 times a week because they put very little meat even when i paid double for meat. La Mission has become Chipotles by giving very little meat and having high prices; for a fast food place not cool. I do not mind paying more but please give me what i am paying for; nothing more but nothing less. I am disappointed.

How could my first review of 2024 not be about La Mission? This restaurant consistently serves delicious food and provides excellent service, even during long waits! The seating area is lovely, and while it can get crowded and is located right off the sidewalk (not in the street, just close to it), the turnover is quick. I highly recommend trying the pozole (my absolute favorite) or the chilaquiles for breakfast (also a top favorite). You really can’t go wrong with anything on this menu! Oh wow, have I really reviewed this place four times? Oops! It still definitely earns a 5-star rating from me!
I have visited La Mission multiple times for genuine Mexican flavors, and the food is consistently impressive. Dishes like the Flautas de Pollo and the Nopales Mole Poblano burrito are particularly delicious. The service is commendable, and the prices reflect the quality of the food quite well. I highly recommend this spot for anyone craving Mexican cuisine, and I'm definitely considering a return visit. **Flautas de Pollo Rating: 4/5** Crispy, well-seasoned flautas filled with chicken. The exterior is deliciously crunchy, perfectly complementing the flavorful chicken inside. **Platanos Rating: 4/5** Sweet and perfectly caramelized plantains offer a delightful sweetness that pairs well with the savory dishes. **Tacos de Plaza Rating: 4/5** These authentic street-style tacos are bursting with flavor. Each taco is savory and generously filled with delicious ingredients. **Nopales Mole Poblano Burrito Rating: 4/5** This dish features a unique blend of flavors. The mole poblano adds a rich, complex taste to the nopales burrito, making it a truly satisfying meal.
We saw this restaurant always bustling with customers, so we had to give it a try! As soon as I walked in, I was warmly welcomed, and there were so many options that it was tough to decide what to order! We weren't very hungry but still wanted to sample the food. We settled on carne asada tacos and a carnitas taco, along with a delicious horchata. I completely forgot to ask for no onions and cilantro, but it was no big deal—I just picked them out. Overall, the food was decent but nothing extraordinary. I'm really looking forward to trying their desserts next time; I absolutely love cheesecake and carrot cake! On my next visit, checking out their desserts is definitely on my list!
We just got to-go, I had a carne asada burrito and my friend got a grande vegetarian taco. The burrito was good--the meat was nicely cooked--but was missing some flavor. Maybe I should've asked for more sauce or added guac. Though I thought that maybe the beef should've been seasoned more to carry the flavor. In any case, I plan to give it another try and order more carefully, largely because the outdoor seating area is nice.
This place is so cute! Little corner restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating on their patio. If you're looking to eat indoors, they only have 2 tables, so come prepared to wait. We ordered at the counter and found a table. The food quickly came out. Their servings a huge and fairly priced. Definitely try the flautas de mole. So good.

Pollo Asado Burrito is Legit. also I got the Vegetariano Burrito fajita style: fajita style is also very good. I think the ultimate combo would be Pollo Asado Burrito fajita style.
Rolled tacos were way fried and tastess. Ive tried other items from the menu like papa tacos, burrito and enchiladas in the past and they were good. I wouldny recommend rolled tacos. Horcharta was amazing.
I absolutely love the crispy Chips Salsa Fresca; they're perfectly fried and seasoned with spices. The Al Pastor Burrito was delicious and packed with generous portions of meat. Next time, I plan to add some veggies or guacamole, as it only came with rice, beans, and meat.
This burrito is the kind that makes you want to hop in your car and give the chef a little kiss on the forehead because it truly restored my faith in humanity and all things wonderful. The carnitas are incredibly crispy and packed with flavor, and when I requested extra sour cream, it was generously applied—this thing is dripping goodness. I might just be in love!

Cheap good food!. Cheap good food with friendly service!! Every time I passed this place it was busy, it seems like it is a favorite spot for locals who live in the area. I had the mole burrito and it was quite good.
I got the grilled fish taco and it was super fresh and light. As good as my taco was, my boyfriend's chimichanga was the big time winner. Filled with tender pork and topped with fresh pico and tons of cotija so dang good! The ceviche was on point too. Everything was so fresh and perfectly spicy.
The other day, it was raining, and we were really hungry, so we decided to check out this Mexican restaurant. The pork soft-shell tacos and tamarind soda were absolutely incredible—definitely must-tries! The food was delicious, and it was clear that this place is popular because it became packed as soon as we sat down. Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend trying the tacos. Cheers!
I have been here a couple of times. I enjoy the fish burrito or tacos and the veggie burrito is very good. Their nachos I love and my dad never waivers from his lamb burrito that he says is delicious (I only eat fish). I went for breakfast and I was not impressed. The breakfast burrito was average. Their horchata though is some of the best I've ever tasted! One negative for me is that their prices have gone up recently and certain menu items are a little pricey for the quality. Overall a pretty good place.

I can't believe this place is so underrated. They serve the freshest seafood, and everything on the menu is delicious. It's definitely worth the price, and you should definitely consider trying it out. This place is far superior to the typical taco trucks in Oakland, and they really put effort into making your food, resulting in beautiful and fresh dishes. I usually order the shrimp burrito.
I appreciate the clearly marked vegetarian options on the menu. While their pinto beans aren't vegetarian, the fried and black beans are. I usually enjoy dining indoors, but the terrace is lovely despite its wear from being located on a busy street. I do wish the burrito came with chips since it feels a bit pricey, but the size of the burrito itself is quite generous and definitely enough to satisfy me for dinner.
Great spot. They make their own chips, so their nachos are naturally really tasty. I used to go here in grad school as they had some of the latest hours in Berkeley, so great for a late night snack. Their outdoor area is great for groups, but there isn’t indoor seating. Burritos are solid, and I’m told the mole is good as well.
This place is exceptional. The food is fantastic and true Mexican. They also offer a great selection of seafood. We had shrimp ceviche and it was delicious. Absolutely would recommend if you are in downtown Cozumel.
This place is absolutely incredible! They offer an impressive variety of vegetarian options too! The mole is truly out of this world; I’ve only tasted one that was better in Mexico City. The table salsas are fantastic—full of flavor and genuinely spicy. They also have heated outdoor seating, which is a nice touch. I'm really disappointed that I don't live in the same city as this wonderful and delicious restaurant.
