This used to be my favorite chicken spot, but things have definitely gone downhill. Over the past few years, both the food and service have steadily declined, and my last visit was particularly disappointing. The outside lights were completely off, making us question if they were even open, despite arriving nearly three hours before closing. Prices have skyrocketed—what was once a $40-45 family meal is now over $60, and for less food too (25 tenders and two large sides). The service felt rushed and inattentive, with many sauces unavailable and items missing from our order. Packaging, which was always hit or miss, is now worse—they packed mashed potatoes and gravy into flimsy drink cups with straw holes, creating a mess. The okra was stale, as it has been on recent visits. The chicken tenders were inconsistent, ranging from undercooked, doughy balls to tiny pieces barely bigger than a thumb. Paying a high price for low-quality food is frustrating. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this location and suggest choosing other franchises instead.
My mother-in-law and daughters had dinner here, and we were very impressed! The restaurant and restrooms were spotlessly clean, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, especially the chicken tenders and fried pickles. I can’t recommend this place enough. I will definitely be returning!
The dining room was closed, which made for an unpleasant experience eating in my car during the rain. I think I’ll choose a different place next time. The exit from I-30 was very misleading, and it took me about ten minutes to locate the restaurant. The food was decent, but the hassle wasn’t worth it, especially having to eat in my car.
I visited the drive-thru for lunch while on a road trip. Although the line was a bit slow due to the lunch rush, the employee at the window was very friendly. The chicken was excellent – hot and crispy! I also liked seeing their faith reflected in the Bible verse from Deuteronomy printed on the receipt.
The fish here is just amazing. When I ordered they told me it would be a few minutes so they could make sure it was fresh for me. And it was fresh. Crispy, meaty, and large portions unlike most places nowadays. We usually get the family pack of chicken strips which are also good, and they make sure to give you your moneys worth. My ONLY complaint is that the fried pickles are absolutely atrocious. They were drenched in oil and most breading had fallen off due to that. Other than that though, chicken express is definitely worth it and I will definitely be back.
