Last night we tried again as its so cl... read more So, I have tried this restaurant on numerous occasions as I live right around the corner. Every time it has disappointed. Last night we tried again as its so close to give it one final chance, NEVER again. The soup if you can call it that is literally like water with oil on top. The main dishes were tasteless and the sauce was almost transparent. I had chicken curry and I would challenge anyone to have guessed that by the flavor as it was impossible. One dish we ordered they forgot to put the sauce on?! Absolutely worst Chinese we have ever had.

This is what I ordered, Hot and sour soup... read more If you enjoy the balance of aromatics and seasonings offered in Chinese and Asian food then this place is NOT for you. This is what I ordered, Hot and sour soup, labelled on the receipt as, 20 sopa agriapicante. A rice dish labelled on the receipt as, 10 sin chow chau, and a chicken dish labelled on the receipt as, 00 pollo chili. The soup, I was served a dish of what looked like the dregs of a wash up bowl containing all and everything that had been washed off a dish. I spoke to the server as I wondered if there had been a mistake, she replied no. I explained that Hot and Sour soup is a thick and usually darker soup with white pepper for heat not chilli, it should contain tofu, Chinese mushrooms, bamboo shoot, soured with Chinese vinegar and sesame oil on top that is the staple, sometimes char sui pork, shrimp etc are added. This was not what I was served, the server said sorry its a regional variation utter rubbish. This was nothing but liquid slop. Slop that had no sour flavour and the heat, well what there was of it was from cheap bought chilli sambal. The rice dish, this was more expensive than the main dish and I was promised mixed meats, beef, chicken, pork [hopefully char sui] and shrimp along with vegetables I was hoping for mushroom bamboo shoots and water chestnut etc What I received, a rice dish that was stir fried in old oil that had previously been used for in the deep fryer. The only meat as there was no mix,, if it was indeed that was hard and appeared to have come from the bottom of the deep fryer,, the only shrimp was half a tiny shrimp see photo. Veg,, well I guess you have the idea that didnt happen either. The chicken dish I asked the server how spicy it was. She explained that it was far more spicy than Kung Pow,, great I said I enjoy a spicy dish., oh lord have mercy,,, the chicken had been boiled along with the vegetables so no flavour from stir frying,,, just bland damp non crispy veg and what I guess and hoped was chicken but it simply tasted white! [tasted of nothing] The sauce was thickened oily salty water that had some more of that nasty chilli sambal. As for spicy,, on a scale of 1 10 this would have been in the minus. Fresh garlic, ginger chilli.,, you know the aromatics associated with Chinese food totally missing. How can a restaurant make Chinese food without these staples? This,, dare I call it Chinese food was simply the worst food I have ever tasted. The next day lets simply say I was unable to go far from the toilet yup,, Do yourself a favour and a flavour! you would be far better off going to Iceland in Benissa and purchasing frozen take out and reheating in your home. Two words,,,,, dont go.

Both times we were really impressed with the food which had a great flavour and a nice range of choices.

We visit every time we stay in the area. The seven course banquet is great value and the service is always excellent.
