Was Anonym at Yard Bird a mag?
I can't comment on the food but this American Themed bar with an okay collection of beers. There is still a lot of australia pub theme going on and it's a little confused. But I enjoyed my drink there with the live band. View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Yard Bird:
If you live to reminisce of TV dinners past and love the deep fried taste of pre-cooked meals from the 80's. This is the place for you...Me.. not so much. Keep it for drinks with the chance of chip and Dip. Great sunny spot with a great outlook but that's about it. View all feedback.
Hotdogs and burgers were really good, but the best part of the meal were the chicken wings! We chose buffalo wings but there was a milder BBQ option and Hot&Fiery option. Full bar service with nice options. Live music too! Highly recommend for a lunch...or dinner in Bendigo CBD.
The staff were lovely, though under the pump. Two new staff on NYE, harder for the experienced staff, but they kept their cool. The cocktails were good, the food was great. Regular American diner style food, but well done.
Just save yourself some time and money and go to GPO next door, its overpriced and the food and service is terrible. The menu is severely downsided due to covid, that much is understandable, but I will never be returning to get a dinner here...again. The service was incredibly poor, it took multiple attempts to get the bartender to give us all sodas we ordered, which is sad enough, but our entrees were served after our main meal, so we had some way too cheesy garlic bread for desert. The food was honestly awful, I personally had the chicken schnitzel. The chicken was dry, the chips were tasteless, and the salad would have looked more presentable if they had bought a bag of salad from the Coles two minutes down the road. The gravy could also have easily been used as a replacement for Clag glue. And to top off the evening, we had bought our own cake and asked that the staff please keep the lid for said cake behind the counter so we could take the rest of the cake home. Not only did we ask for the lid about times, and were told they were getting someone onto it, after about minutes my mother and I went up to the counter to ask for the lid back (please, its not hard), and both us and other customers witnessed them pull said lid out of the trash, rinse it, and start to dry it and hand it back to us. In the middle of a pandemic? Really? The staff, while being nice, seemed like they were all on their first shift and had no idea what they were doing. I'm honestly so sorry for these staff and all the other businesses who decided to go there for our Christmas breakups, it was so sad and not at all comparable to what they were like last year. Get some hospitality training, they do that at TAFE for free down at La Trobe, take a course or two, it's only three minutes walk away.
The staff was slammed but handled it beautifully, with two new employees on New Year's Eve adding to the challenge for the seasoned staff. The cocktails were delicious and the food was excellent, with classic American diner dishes that were well-prepared.
They should just save time and money and go to the GPO next door. It's overpriced, the food and service are terrible. The limited menu is likely due to COVID restrictions, but I will never dine here again. The service was unbelievably poor; it took ages to get the attention of the bartender and when we finally ordered, our appetizers were served after our main course. The food was honestly terrible. I had the chicken dish and it was dry, the chips were tasteless, and the salad was lackluster. It seemed like they had just bought a bag of salad from the supermarket down the road. The gravy was like glue. To top it off, we brought our own cake and asked the staff to keep the leftovers for us. After waiting for 45 minutes and asking multiple times, they finally handed back the cake lid after visibly rinsing and drying it. The staff seemed inexperienced and clueless. It's a shame that our Christmas dinner was such a disappointment compared to previous years. They really need some hospitality training - they can do it for free at TAFE or La Trobe, just a short walk away.
