The food, wine and ambience was perfect to replicate a typical French dinner. Congratulations to Travis and the team.

The waiter was very nice, the... read more We visited Bouchon for lunch. We noted all the Good Food Guide recommendations on the window and thought it had to be pretty good. The waiter was very nice, the bread and butter beautiful and the two glasses of wine were excellent. Everything started great and we really looked forward to our meal. We had ordered lamb rump with haricot beans. The beans were very nice but no better than I serve at home but the lamb was almost inedible. It was so gristly and the meat so tough that we had to leave a lot of it on our plates. Unheard of for me!! As it was only a small portion ( We did not expect a huge serve anyway) we left feeling very hungry indeed and $50.00 worse off. Next time we come to Bendigo we will return to The Dispensary in Chancery Lane which has excellent food. So sad that Whirakee has closed!
