Malcolm's - Ben Eoin

I guess when you only have one option for fine dining, you play whatever and suck it up. The food was so-so, the chicken and pork dishes we had were both under cooked. The service was very, very good however.

The menu is small but the choices are all appealing. The service was by far the best I have experienced. The wait staff were very knowledgable both of the menu and of the local area. Both the lamb and the halibut were very well prepared. The seafood risotto that came with the halibut was divine. The beet salad was great..a nice combination of flavours. This place is a great spot for a splurge ,as its pricey but worth it for a nice indulgence. If you go and are not from the area, the staff are a wealth of knowledge in recommending what to see in the local area.

Malcolm's is the restaurant at The Birches Inn and is located in Ben Eoin Nova Scotia. They have a small dining room with a nice comfortable atmosphere, lots of windows and you can see trees, the ski hill/golf course and or the water depending on your table. We have eaten here before and decided to return for our anniversary. The meal was fabulous, service great and the price appropriate for our experience. It is a hidden jem tucked away in this lovely inn and if you want a very good meal the 20 minute drive from Sydney will be worth it. If you are coming by boat to the new marina in Ben Eoin or to golf at the Lakes Golf Course this would be a fabulous option for dinner. Call and make a reservation.

This restaurant is part of the hotel we spent 2 nights in. It's a small hotel with a dozen rooms. The restaurant is smiling. the room is bright and the tables are well spaced. The menu has many dishes. We opted for lobster and angus beef, both delicious! the wine was also quite satisfying. A very good table!

Only question would be on the sauce served with the duck. Neither I or my spouse enjoyed. Halibut was an A- experience, very tasty. Wines by he glass were nice. Lovely setting. Good service.
