The multifaceted experience at this restaurant showcases both charming moments and distressing issues. While the decor is appealing and some dishes, notably crab legs and fish platters, receive high praise, diners frequently report significant service shortcomings. Customers have encountered unkempt conditions, including flies and sticky floors, alongside long waits for food and drinks, often leaving them feeling neglected by staff. Despite these shortcomings, the friendly service from certain staff members and picturesque lakeside views provide a silver lining. Overall, while the potential is evident, improvements in service and cleanliness are crucial for a more consistent dining experience.

Was Anonym at The Fish a mag?
we had a big party reservation and ended as the only ones in the restaurant for lunch (after Christmas on the day). our waitress was very friendly and helpful, even helped us make some group photos. everyone enjoyed eating, especially the rust and the fish (sandwiches). the restaurant is very beautiful inside and has a beautiful view of the lake. What Anonym dislikes about The Fish:
I fought last year for birthday. personal and service were good, but the shrimp app I received was not the same as the first one that ordered my group. they served like a popcorn garnel that were not big or as good as the first ones - but they loaded the same so I was not really impressed that but the crab legs were great. Came in for a night cap. Bartender poured us good drinks then shut the place down when the dudes at the bar started getting out of hand. Well done.

Having never been in this area, and after calling a couple of restaurants, we were beginning to understand that not very many area restaurants at least at this time of year are open on a Tuesday evening. After learning that the restaurant where we had planned to eat was closed, we looked across the street, and saw that The Fish was open. Oh well, let’s give it a try! The fish platter (fish chips) was as good or better than either of us had ever had. The fries (chips) were outstanding. The server was very friendly and efficient. Is it a fancy joint? No. But the food was very good, service was excellent, and the view out over the lake a pleasant accompaniment to a very good meal. We highly recommend it!

Was disgusting. Open door allowing flies in the restaurant. We spent the whole time swatting flies away. There were dead flies other bugs all along the window sills. The floor was very sticky our shoes were sticking as we walked to the table. 3 tables of people, we didnt see a waitress for 15 minutes after being seated. Didnt get drinks for 10 min. Got our appetizer as we were leaving. We should have left. Will never go back.

The service at this restaurant is atrocious! During our visit last week, there were only two waiters for the entire place which was completely overwhelmed. Despite their best efforts, it was an impossible task for them to manage. Without a hostess, a line of people waited to be seated. An elderly woman even tried to make a reservation for a large group the following week, only to be told to come back at another time by a waitress. Why are there so few employees working here? Is it due to low wages or poor working conditions? Although the restaurant is lovely with a view of the sea, they will not survive the summer season if they do not hire more help.

After reading all the bad reviews I expected a greasy spoon dump and I was pleasantly surprised. We visited on an overcast drizzly day when there were only a few other parties, so I am sure when the place is busy the wait is longer. My husband had a delicious french onion soup and my lobster bisque was not bad. We split the fried fish entree which was one giant piece of fish— the biggest, juiciest and most delicious I have ever had. The french fries were yummy and the coleslaw fresh. We also enjoyed our Southern Tier IPA. The prices were steep but the view could not be beat. I would definitely come back.
