Description

Tucked into Bellows Falls, Wunderbar pairs an audacious cocktail program with stylish, urbane decor that feels unusually buzzy for a New England town. Creative plates — from disco fries to miso mussels and mushroom toast — earn devoted fans, while warm, personable service enhances date nights and destination evenings. Expect higher-than-local prices and adventurous flavors; note occasional slow service and uneven food consistency reported by some. Best visited for cocktails and a special-occasion meal rather than a predictable, budget-friendly dinner.

Finally got to try Wunderbar after wanting to for a couple years since they opened! Made an early dinner reservation and was seated promptly at a tiny table (uggh) RIGHT next to another couple. Why do restaurants do this?! Literally no one wants to hear a stranger's whole conversation or their chewing! We would've had to whisper the whole time to even have a conversation. Thankfully, my husband quickly caught on that this was going to be an extremely uncomfortable date if we didn't move, so he asked for a different seat. All the booths were available at this time and the host let us know that they had parties arriving soon but there was one booth available for 45 minutes. That was plenty of time for us, even though the booking automatically had us down for 1.5 hours. Maybe this is due to some guests having a 3 4 course meal, which is how the menu suggests it, but we were just having 1 course. The booth was beautiful and I was so happy we moved! I ordered one of their craft cocktails (the bee's knees) and it was beautiful and strong!! The menu was simple, which I appreciate because it indicates a fresh supply of food, but both of us struggled to choose something we were excited to order. We went with 4 small plates to share (everything here is on the small side, so you may want to order a couple items). The soup wasn't impressive, the ahi tuna tostadas and kale salad were good, the BAO BUNS were AMAZING those I will come back for!! Service was great everyone was super friendly. And the atmosphere is pretty cool! Check out my photos and videos! Parking: Parking is on the street and we were able to find a spot across the street easily, but we did have an earlier reservation, so it may be more difficult to find parking at rush dinner time. Kid friendliness: Not kid friendly in my opinion due to the diversity in the menu and layout of the space. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Ahi Tuna Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options: Free of charge street parking

I don’t typically write reviews, but I really love this place and visit every time I’m in the area. Food/drinks are delicious. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming. And the staff is delightful. Menu changes often, but I really enjoyed the bao buns, shrimp roll and polenta fries during my last visit. If I didn’t have food restriction, I would honestly try everything on the menu! Shout out to Remy and Alain who are extremely hospitable every time I’m there. Thanks for sharing this gem with us! Vegetarian options: Kale Caesar salad, polenta fries, bao buns. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommendation for vegetarians: Highly recommend Vegetarian offerings: Large vegetarian selection, Clearly labelled vegetarian dishes
