The food was outstanding. It's a cozy restaurant with very friendly kitchen staff who offer a well-thought-out menu. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The only downside was the drinks; I had the wine pairing and often found myself with an empty glass, waiting for the next pour. Providing either more glasses or slightly larger portions would create a more enjoyable experience and allow gue... View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Maos:
This place deserves more than a 4.4 rating. Those who leave one-star reviews clearly lack an appreciation for food and creativity. Yes, the service took a while, but it was evident they were dealing with challenges. Most of the dishes were incredibly technical and creative, yet still exceptionally tasty. The flavor combinations were unexpected, but somehow they worked beautifully together. The lobster tail with foie... View all feedback.
When my friends ask me what type of cuisine it is, I find it hard to categorize. Dining at Mãos can range from mochi filled with crab claw in a garum-fermented crab juice caramel to dongchimi and delicious hand-brown cascading dishes. I simply describe Mãos’ cuisine as “truly global.” You can really see Chef Edoardo’s creativity with the first taste of dongchimi. Don’t be fooled by its seemingly simple appearance; it takes many hours to create this amazing combination of spicy kimchi served at a refreshing chill. The sudden burst of flavor from the seasoned cold dish is indescribable—you just have to experience it for yourself. I love how Edoardo and his team describe the process of creating each dish! The whisky-soaked honey cake is a personal highlight for me. I don’t need to elaborate on its name; it says it all! As for the service, it is top-notch. I haven’t come across such dedicated staff in a restaurant before. Overall, I highly recommend this dining experience!
The lobster tail with foie gras sauce was a standout, and the dessert was a delightful innovation. You could really see the thought put into the presentation of each dish. The service was impeccable, and having the opportunity to visit the kitchen for some of the courses was a unique experience. I loved every bite!
Despite this, I’ve still rated it 5 stars because this meal ranks among the best I've ever had.
Excellent birthday meal. they enjoy eating and the wine pairing and an unforgettable evening overall. many thanks to the chef eduardo, who draws on his roots and the wonderful kitchen staff. we're coming back! (P.s I was first disturbed by the post lockdown negative reviews on google, but so glad I didn't take them into account. that is definitiw fat duck league)
What an experience! Definitely a dinner to remember. Throughout the evening (and we've been there for nearly 5 hours! you're free to wander around: see how chefs are carefully crafting your dishes in the kitchen explaining every detail from origin of produce to cooking techniques, chat to sommelier in wine cellar, or meet fellow 14 guests in a small yet cosy dining room with a shared table. It doesn't get more immersive. A tasting menu of 15 dishes is impressive and has some ingredients which you wouldn't think go together before you try: from flavoursome wagyu beef with shellfish sauce to a dessert of celeriac, shaved truffle and jam, not to mention ice cream infused with cherry seeds that makes it taste very chocolate-y. Each member of staff is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic, very approachable, polite and friendly, all making your experience truly personal. Thank you so much!
