The Playwright offers £3 cocktails and beer of the month, but disappointed customers quickly realized the advertised deals were scarce. The bar itself is oddly located in a nightclub setting. Previous patrons are disheartened by the decline of the once beloved venue, noting grubbiness and poor management. However, a few visitors found the bar staff welcoming and accommodating, offering good deals and lively entertainment. Overall, opinions on The Playwright in Belfast are divided, with some praising its atmosphere and others criticizing its upkeep and offerings.

Wow, this place has really transformed over the past twenty years. I used to visit it in the 90s during a work trip from Australia, and it was definitely not as vibrant as it is now. Back in 1996, it was a much simpler spot! View all feedback.
What Belfastguy dislikes about The Fly:
Was in the fly yesterday for a drink for the first time in a number of years. It was very shabby and run down looking! Years ago this was one of the cool places to go but not any more! Atmosphere and service was mediocre! The positive side to it was that its not a bad bar now for going to watch the rugby and football! Service was a bit slow too. I probably won't be rushing back! Went here for some pre drinks on New Year's Eve! Me and my boyfriend love it here, great chilled atmosphere! The cocktails are AMAZING! Such a wide variety on offer- 5 alive is by far the best! Unfortunalty they had no mint leaves during our visit so couldn't have a mojito! Hopefully get one next time as we will defiantly be back!
My boyfriend recently visited this restaurant and was mistreated by one of their bouncers. He was put in a headlock and choked until he could barely breathe and almost passed out. I believe there is no excuse for this behavior. Bouncers should maintain order, not engage in assault. I suggest avoiding this place.
Good fun, great craic really fun place to spend a Saturday night before the clubs. There was a live singer on stage who was good at his job and had the crowd going.
Worth a visit for the great cocktails. Staff are superb and very friendly sharing tips on places to visit. It was a bit quiet on both times we visited
Their cocktails are made quickly and are a great price for the quality! I loved their Rush Hour cocktail definitely something to try. They could however do with an umbrella or awning outside, as the rain makes it impossible to enjoy a cigarette at the venue.Staff were lovely and great fun I would recommend this to anyone.
