Reviewing the cellar separately to Belfast castle.We stopped off here for lunch on a sunny Sunday.The outside area is lovely.The quality of the food was good.The staff could be much better.A complaint we and so many others had was the long walk around to the side door when there is a door at the rear.Eventually a member of staff put something against the door to keep it open. It's located in the castle itself.Soup and food was decent.It took a while to get a table first and food later.If you are away from main seating area , it's gets difficult to get any attention.It could be a different experience to have a meal in such place but didn't real see anything special as such about the food being served! Menu limited. Ordered fish and chips and scampi and chips. Fish was thick batter little fish. No atmosphere. Service reasonably good. Really disappointed in menu and meal.
Very disappointing service, booking made for 50th family birthday. After waiting over an hour and half after placing an order. Left early due to waiting times and just poor service. Plans and day ruined for family event. Disappointing
Very disappointed with everything, starter was especially unappealing cheap pate with stale bread disguised as melba toast hugely expensive for a very mediocre experience.
Had a great meal at Cellar Restaurant, Belfast Castle. The staff are very pleasant, and our meal was tasty and served quickly. We had a table booked for a Saturday at 7pm (4 people) and only two other tables were occupied. I had a cold tarte starter good but personally I would have preferred hot. The beef dinner was very good. The dessert, brownie ice cream, was fab. The only downfall was that they quit serving alcohol at 9pm and we would have liked to have sat on with a few drinks after dinner.
The online menu is never what you are offered. If you like burgers or fish and chips etc it will suit you. Otherwise it’s a wasted journey. It’s no longer a good restaurant, just a cafe.
