By normal restaurant standards this was a fine meal, I was hoping for an outstanding experience given the reputation (and price of the Pluckemin Inn. It was a Thursday night, so perhaps their top talent was mostly given the day off? There was a loud large table of insurance brokers commanding most of the staff 's attention. We ordered the Summer tasting menu with wines to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Fluke tartare amuse was attractively prepared, but fishy, maybe it sat on a prep table too long? It was paired with an outstanding Prosecco (So good I called their Plucky Wine shop the next day and purchased a case! . The First course of foie gras was perhaps the highlight of the meal, unctuous and creamy paired classically with a 2012 Sauternes (You can tell that there is really someone who knows wines working here . We had to ask for an extra piece of bread none was offered.(The breads were as good as bread gets, crusty , rustic loaves. Suggest you not cut so much ahead and place in baskets though. some was getting stale by the time it reached us, a shame! Salmon confit second course was just average, though the tiny chicken oysters served with it were amazingly tasty. Next time a whole small plate of those, leave off the fish, thank you. The Oregon Pinot Noir it was paired with was also nothing to get excited about. My veal chop main course was good though my wife 's was very fatty. It was interesting veal, almost beefy. The tomato confit provided an nice salty/acidic contrast to the fatty veal. I simply did not like the Nebbiolo d 'Alba wine paired with this dish. It was thin and fruitless. Dessert of ganache and a nice cherry sorbet was fine, paired with an insipid sweetish wine from the south of France. They did bring us a nice plate of home made cookies for our anniversary (see pic which were outstanding. Overall an ok experience, but not one we will rush to tell all our friends about. Clearly this restaurant is capable of much more. Perhaps we will try to return on a better night.

I have been here a few times and the food and drinks are always very good. The staff provides very good service and the restaurant has a nice ambiance. I got the Griggstown chicken the last time and would highly recommend it.
