Just next door, however, is a place that surpasses its predecessor, offering an authentic Japanese culinary experience that reflects everything I learned during my 12.5 years in Japan. What Jeffrey Wilent doesn't like about Uwajimaya:
They have a really good selection and tons of both snacks and groceries. What I am really disappointed in is the pre-made items in the deli. The little tiny bowl of Gyudon is now $10. It seems like a few years ago that was a $4 item. Its good food but more expensive than fresh now. View all feedback.

Be sure to greet the hidden talent in the kitchen, and don’t miss the chance to order something with miso. If you think the portion looks small, consider ordering two—although one was more than enough for me! The memories of those unforgettable dishes linger, leaving me craving more as I walked home. Sorry, but no photos, please!
I really wish we had a place like this in my area! We visited based on a local's recommendation, and it was even better than I had anticipated! If you're an Otaku in the vicinity, this spot is definitely worth a visit. The majority of the store is packed with a variety of authentic Japanese groceries and deli items, plus there's a whole corner dedicated to Manga and anime!
The atmosphere here is wonderful, with friendly staff and a great selection of interesting items to purchase.
Everything a local from Hawaii needs is in this store. Thanks so much Uwajimaya store for everything
