I visited again on April 14 and 15, 2021, and ordered five chicken sandwiches. The chicken was impressive in size for all of them and wasn't greasy at all. It had a nice crispy crunch when bitten into and a mild yet flavorful taste. I would give the Crispy Colonel chicken sandwiches here a solid 5 stars, despite the fact that the bun was quite disappointing. It felt like a luxury car wrapped in an old napkin. On the same day, I also tried the new hand-breaded chicken sandwich at Burger King. The bun was excellent—perhaps the best I've had in fast food. It was light and buttery, unlike any generic burger bun. Unfortunately, the fried chicken was the worst I've had in years: dry and overcooked, to the point that about a third of it was inedible. I don’t want to name the BK location since it wouldn’t be fair to leave a negative review based on a single experience, but I plan to return to see if it was just an unlucky fluke or if this is the standard they expect to compete with KFC and Popeyes. If KFC could get their buns from the same supplier as BK and use those on their sandwiches, they would truly hit the jackpot. However, the KFC chicken is still so substantial and flavorful that it's definitely worth having—even if you end up discarding the bun. On April 23rd, I conducted a taste test with three friends to compare the latest chicken sandwiches from KFC, McDonald's, and Burger King. To my surprise, KFC's sandwich came with a brioche bun, which was different from what I received the last time. After some research and discussion with the manager, I learned that previously I had received the wrong bun— a standard white bun instead of the new brioche. The sandwich we tried this time had the correct bun, and it was delicious, just like the chicken. We ordered two sandwiches from each chain: one as typically prepared and one plain, with the bun and chicken packaged separately, then cut into four portions for tasting. The unanimous rankings were as follows: Bun-wise, KFC took first place, followed closely by Burger King, with McDonald's coming in a distant third. For the chicken itself, KFC again ranked first, with Burger King in second (if you wait about ten minutes, they’ll fry a fresh piece for you, which was a stark contrast to the inedible chicken I got from them before), and McDonald's trailing far behind. Even when enjoying the sandwiches as prepared, the results remained consistent: KFC first, BK second, and McDonald's again at a distance in third place—everyone noted a strong celery flavor in McDonald's chicken seasoning. When weighing the plain bun and chicken together: KFC was 205.4g, BK was 193.8g, and McDonald's was 172.3g. The photo shows them from left to right: McDonald's, BK, and KFC.
The staff at this restaurant are cheerful and friendly, making you feel truly welcome. The service was fast and precise, and the food from both KFC and A&W was excellent. We dined in, and the tables were clean. Thank you!
I decided to go inside instead of using the drive-thru, and I'm glad I did. The interior looked newly remodeled and was very clean. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was fresh and hot. Overall, it was a great experience.
