I picked up some take out my first night in Beaufort and the food was really good. Sorry, I didn't take a picture of my food. I had jerk chicken, peas and rice, fried plantains and steam cabbage. With a Kola Champagne to was it all down... View all feedback.
What lisa davis doesn't like about Jah’nya’s Caribbean Cuisine:
Small place. It's possible that the menu item you want will not be available. Ask first. Waited 25 minutes for fish and chips. No prices on display but a medium jerk chicken dish was $12 and a large $15. The dish is served with more peas and rice than anything. Sides $4-5. It was difficult to enjoy hot food in heat and humidity in a restaurant with no AC, but I'm not local. View all feedback.
Ordered oxtails, cost $22, for medium. More rice than anyone could eat, 4-5 pieces of oxtail that was pretty fatty. Plantains ok, cabbage had no flavor. Would not order again
My review has been revised and updated due to originally rating Jah?Nya?s Caribbean cuisine a 1 star back in February 2021.I tried it once and never tried it again until I had no choice but to give them another chance once their sister restaurant New Jade Island Cuisine closed. Not too sure why they closed down.. but New Jade Island Cuisine had the BEST Jamaican and Haitian food in the lowcountry. Jah?Nyas must have changed their recipe to match and learned something from the cooks at New Jades because when I went back to give their Jerk Chicken, rice and peas, plantains and cabbage another try it was absolutely delicious! I wish I ordered two large plates instead of one that night.
I?ve eaten there once before and loved the food. I came back today as it?s my newest pregnancy craving and despite their business hours the door was locked. The neighboring business said the employee may have ran to the store since he had been cooking all morning, so we waited. I waited almost an hour and no one ever opened the store. I drove 40 minutes to get here just to bet met with a closed store during normal business hours.
Site says open and they are closed. I just went by there! Update: I went there today and after they swiped my gift card they stated the machines were down with technical difficulties. I left, I then called my card and $29 was taken out. So I then went back and the lady argued me she didn?t take it until I showed them they took the money then they tried to say they was calling me back to get the left over oxtails from the night before. I then clearly stated after the argument I didn?t want the old oxtails I wanted my money back. They say they put the money back on my card however I wasn?t able to get a receipt for that. Do not shop here I repeat DO NOT SHOP HERE unless you are willing to deal with attitudes and ungratefulness!
