Gingernut - Beaconsfield
Gingernut
Description
Nestled in the heart of the city, this new restaurant has captured diners’ hearts with its delectable offerings and attentive service. Patrons rave about standout dishes like the crispy salad broth basket, deeming it one of the tastiest meals they’ve had in a long time. With generous portion sizes and reasonable prices, it’s easy to see why guests are eager to return. However, some unfortunate experiences have marred its debut, as reservations made through OpenTable occasionally led to confusion, with the restaurant unexpectedly closed. Despite these setbacks, the restaurant comes highly recommended for its delicious food and welcoming atmosphere.

I arrived at 7:30 PM on Friday, the 6th, as per my Open Table reservation, only to find the restaurant dark and seemingly abandoned. There was also a woman standing outside, looking upset, as she was waiting for another seven guests to join her for dinner, and she had made her reservation through Open Table as well. Fortunately, since it was just the two of us, we were able to get a table at Fego around the corner. It's clear that Open Table should not be accepting bookings for this restaurant, as I later discovered it had abruptly closed at the end of July. Overall, it was not a good experience!
We arrived to find that the restaurant was closed, so we had to go to a different one.
The restaurant was closed with no information available on whether this was temporary or permanent. OpenTable should not accept reservations if the establishment is not operating or is closed for the holidays. We had to scramble to find an alternative option.
Having booked a table through OpenTable we arrived at Gingernut at 7.30 on Sat. 10th August to find the restaurant in darkness with no sign of life whatsoever. In other words it was obviously closed. As you can imagine we were extremely annoyed . Why on earth did OpenTable take our booking and confirm the booking by email when the restaurant was closed? I don't think I can recommend Gingernut or OpenTable
