I was really disappointed with my birthday dinner at The Orange Artichoke for a party of seven. We had pre-ordered a three-course menu, but one of the desserts was not available. The steak was quite subpar, and the kids had to wait an entire hour for their burgers, despite being the only customers in the restaurant. The only highlight of the evening was a passion fruit martini that surprisingly contained no passion fruit at all. Overall, it was a letdown. The Orange Artichoke is a quaint hotel restaurant with a modern ambiance. However, during our visit at 6 pm on a Friday, it was unexpectedly empty—my son and I were the only diners, which felt a bit odd. Even as we departed at 7:40 pm, the restaurant remained vacant. Despite this, the staff was friendly and attentive. The food had its highs and lows; I ordered the haddock and chips, but the fish turned out a bit dry. The chicken terrine starter was excellent, and the prawn bruschetta was quite tasty as well. Unfortunately, the onion rings were undercooked. Overall, it was a mixed experience.
