Mixed reviews: Thai By The Weir is loved for its riverside atmosphere, garden seating and drinks, but some guests report inconsistent service and food variability.
Staff very unwelcoming on arrival, weren't happy when we only ordered non-alcoholic drinks to begin with. In the end we finished our drinks and left to find another place to eat so can't comment on the food. Wouldn't recommend at all.
4 meals, 1 of which was way too salty, 10% service added to the bill 81 pounds, the bill was taken quickly, it later turned out to be 97 pounds .....
We were the only people in the restaurant, yet had to wait for several minutes for the waitress to speak to us. She was sitting at another table. Another woman was behind the counter dusting. Satay had an Indian curry flavor. Red curry had a very strong ginger flavor. Pad Thai was a spoonful of noodles with a giant mind of bean sprouts.
Ordered a chicken sandwich and three fish sandwiches. Sat for near an hour, no food. Nor for the new graduate across from us who also waited for over an hour. Had to leave to make a bus. Staff was quite polite about it and good bartenders. But just say you don’t serve food if it can’t be managed.

Despite mixed reviews about food consistency, many guests return specifically for the riverside mood — late afternoon light through the trees creates a favourite spot for photos and quiet drinks. Locals often use it as a convenient pre-boat-cruise stop and regulars note that repeat visits sometimes bring noticeably warmer, more personalised service.
