What Venture20257989016 likes about Salt Malt:
Lovely fish and chips , daily specials and non-fish dishes available. Charming and quick table service. Nothing not to like regarding the food. The wines are expensive , cheapest bottle well over £20 and wines by the glass similarly expensive for what’s basically a fish... View all feedback. What gav1976r doesn't like about Salt Malt:
I don’t understand the hype with Salt and Malt. Maybe it’s because there’s not much else around Chew Valley Lake. Either way, every takeaway me and the Missus have had have from there has been sub par. The chips are hard and dry. The cod batter is hard and dry. The veggie sausage is mush, coated in you guessed it… hard and dry batter. The curry sauce is wishy washy and bland. Only pro is the staff. Friendly and welco... View all feedback.

Salt and Malt at Chew Valley Lake has received mixed reviews, with some customers finding the food disappointing and overpriced. Complaints ranged from cold fish to garlicky peas. However, others praised the friendly staff, charming atmosphere, and delicious food. Overall, the restaurant offers traditional, good value meals with generous portions, set in a clean and welcoming dining area. While some experiences were less than perfect, many visitors enjoyed their time by the lake and would consider returning. It seems that opinions on Salt and Malt vary widely, so it may be worth giving it a try to form your own judgment.
