Builders Cafe offers a diverse dining experience that unravels a spectrum of reviews. While some guests rave about the reasonably priced, hearty brunch options and friendly staff reminiscent of 90s cafeterias, others highlight a few serious concerns. Unpleasant interactions with the owner, who allegedly mistreats staff and mishandles orders, cast a shadow over the atmosphere. Though many enjoy generous portions and good-quality food, a common disappointment includes inconsistencies in meal preparation. Overall, Builders Cafe shows potential for delicious meals and a warm welcome, but attention to service and management could elevate it further.

What Peter W dislikes about Wickford Cafe:
I went to Builders Cafe, which was filled with dirty construction workers wearing their work clothes. The service was average, and I had a brunch meal. The price per person ranged from £10 to £20. The food and service both received a rating of 3, while the atmosphere was rated a 2. View all feedback.

We recently dined at this restaurant for brunch and were very impressed. The price per person was between £1-10, which was very reasonable. The food was excellent, with both the English Breakfast and toast standing out as recommended dishes. The service was also top-notch, receiving a perfect 5 rating. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, only receiving a 3 rating. Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend this restaurant for a delicious and affordable meal.
I recently dined at this restaurant for lunch and found the price per person to be between £10–20. The food, service, and atmosphere all scored a 4 out of 5.
Good food and a small sheltered pavement area to sit outside and dine. Food and service exceptionally good. We visited on two occasions recently. One visit we both fish and chips with the usual trimmings mushy peas etc. Good tasty fish, though a processed cod portion. On our second visit one of us had a chicken salad, that was amazingly good particularly the marinated freshly cooked chicken chunks. It will be hard to beat the flavour. I had a taste and remain envious. My choice was Gammon Ham with chips, beens and egg. It was well presented, beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection. The staff are cooperative, jolly making you feel welcome. Visit and enjoy the service and that which is on offer, it will be well worthwhile. Enjoy.
