Cleverly,... read more I found out about this restaurant situated at the Tennis Club Old Boys Basel through research about Roger Federer's younger playing years (age 8-14). Cleverly, there is wallpaper of Roger in the restaurant making it easily identifiable. The owners are a husband and wife couple who appear to take all comers without bookings. On a Saturday lunchtime, this resulted in a pretty chaotic busy period 1230 to 2pm, and it did mean I had to wait about 30 minutes to make my order. However, the chef made up for it by personally coming to take my order when he realised how long I had been waiting and that the wait staff were run off their feet! I had their house speciality pasta with clams which was delicious, as was the tira misu and cappuccino. From the outside, the restaurant is situated in an unassuming tennis clubhouse, but don't let first appearance fool you. The Italian food and friendly service is top class, a hidden gem tucked away in Basel suburbia. If you come at a busy time, you just may have to let the locals (especially tennis players) be served first. The price was reasonable by Swiss standards for the calibre of food provided.
