Excellent service from the very accommodating team. Enjoyed a lovely afternoon with my mum for her mother's day treat. It was extremely busy so we were warned there would be a bit of a wait, but it was much quicker than we expected and we'll worth the wait and sensibly priced too. Clean and pleasant surroundings, facilities were also very clean. Accessibility is excellent too, with appropriate parking and everything... View all feedback.
What Jill O dislikes about Cannon Hall Garden Centre And Thyme Bistro:
I visited the garden center café to celebrate my mum's birthday, and we opted for afternoon tea. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll return for that experience. The staff were lovely, but the afternoon tea itself was lacking. There wasn't much variety, and you had no choice in what you received—just half a scone with jam and cream already spread on it, and the sandwiches were predetermined as well. All of this for £12.... Visited one of our favourite places today for breakfast, not been for a while and found it lovely as always, food service were excellent, not sure what all the negative reviews are about ! Will be back again soon xx
I visited here on Saturday afternoon with my elderly parents and have to say the overall experience was very disappointing. It was a warm afternoon so we chose to sit outside and sat at a table outside the main doors. There was a horrible drain/ sewerage smell that was really strong so we had to move tables twice to get away from the stink. My parents ordered a ham sandwich and cream scone. The sandwich was a costly £7.95 and was a dry t cake with some ham and bit of salad and some salad on the side. Not worth the money. The tea with the scone was a small pot with one tea bag , barely getting a decent cup of tea out of it . Overall it was v poor and expensive, especially for pensioners. Felt totally ripped off. I've given it a one as at least the young lad serving was polite.Sorry will not be visiting the Bistro again which is a shame as Cannon Hall is a lovely visitor site.
I love this restaurant and have been coming here for years but the menu has changed to a point where neither my husband nor l could find anything that we really wanted to eat. We both ended up with pie and chips and this wasn’t as nice as it could have been. The pastry was too thick, it would have been better without the layer on the bottom and the beef was a bit tough too. I had to have chips because there was no mashed potatoes on the menu at all. I know we are probably very ‘previous’ but we do enjoy more traditional fare steak, roast beef, roast turkey, chicken fillet, pork chop, lamb shanks….. if only. Everything is cooked with spices and herbs and there’s no alternative if you don’t want that.
This place deserves every success. They have created such a comfortable, peaceful environment. The attention to detail is exceptional. Who the heel wants to sit in a shabby beer garden when you can have a lovely brew and cake here (two wonderful vegan friendly options as well) GO TEAM THYME!
We enjoy dining at this restaurant and visit often for breakfast or lunch, followed by a leisurely stroll around Cannon Hall. However, we were disappointed with the quality of the drinks we received during our last visit. Despite requesting our beverages to be extra hot, they were served lukewarm on all three rounds. This was frustrating as we spent around £60 in total, including breakfast, and it seemed like our request was not taken seriously. We believe that having hot drinks should not be a difficult task, especially considering the weather and our preference for piping hot drinks while sitting outside. Overall, we rated our experience a 3 out of 5 due to the drinks not being prepared as requested, impacting both the service and value for money.
