Description

A recent visit to Cubley Carvery left a lot to be desired with almost inedible food and lackluster service. The Cubley Hall experience was a mixed bag, with delicious food like the meat and potato pie, but a disappointing overall impression due to management issues. The Barn fell short of expectations with subpar food quality and exorbitant prices. On the other hand, positive experiences at Cubley Hall included friendly staff, clean accommodations, and excellent food. Despite some shortcomings, Cubley Hall still remains a venue worth returning to for a pleasant meal or stay.

Had a wonderful stay and great staff

I came to Cubley Hall late May for 2 nights with 3 friends, each of us having our own room. We used this as a base to visit the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield, and Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham, both places were brilliant, with fantastic guides. (My friends live in the south, I live in Sheffield). We were blessed with excellent weather during our stay. The surrounding area is beautiful, with lovely views. I would definitely recommend staying at here, it has a very welcoming atmosphere with very helpful and friendly staff. We were surprised by there being live music on one evening, which was a bonus (in The Barn). I want to give 5 stars but there were a couple of issues which I need to mention. All the rooms were very comfortable and well equipped, but the room allocation was incorrect for 2 of us when we arrived (ie the small and standard doubles were swapped round for 2 of us). When I mentioned this the next day, the staff member there couldn't have been more helpful, and reallocated to me the family room, which was very comfortable and I didn't need to climb as many stairs! We had evening meals on both nights, and the food was good generally. But, I ordered a vegan burger, which when it came didn't have the chips or coleslaw that it should have had. This was rectified but I had to wait a while after my friends' meals were served. I hope to return, at least for lunch, which I have had here several times in the past.

Went to a function in the barn. Waited so long at the bar ended up walking round to the main bar. The food looked delicious though i wasn't in the mood for eating.

Amazing venue, visited for a friend's wedding, it looks the part and service and the food was spot on.

Went for a spot of lunch after the place had been recommended by friends who'd gotten married there. Service, food, location was exceptional and only go if you're hungry as the portions are extremely healthy...... but worth it
