We used this as a base to visit the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield, a... read more I came to Cubley Hall late May for 2 nights with 3 friends, each of us having our own room. We used this as a base to visit the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield, and Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham, both places were brilliant, with fantastic guides. (My friends live in the south, I live in Sheffield). We were blessed with excellent weather during our stay. The surrounding area is beautiful, with lovely views. I would definitely recommend staying at here, it has a very welcoming atmosphere with very helpful and friendly staff. We were surprised by there being live music on one evening, which was a bonus (in The Barn). I want to give 5 stars but there were a couple of issues which I need to mention. All the rooms were very comfortable and well equipped, but the room allocation was incorrect for 2 of us when we arrived (ie the small and standard doubles were swapped round for 2 of us). When I mentioned this the next day, the staff member there couldn't have been more helpful, and reallocated to me the family room, which was very comfortable and I didn't need to climb as many stairs! We had evening meals on both nights, and the food was good generally. But, I ordered a vegan burger, which when it came didn't have the chips or coleslaw that it should have had. This was rectified but I had to wait a while after my friends' meals were served. I hope to return, at least for lunch, which I have had here several times in the past.

Service, food, location was exceptional and only go if you're hungry as the portions are extremely healthy...... but worth it
