While some visitors rave about the tasty food and charming staff, others are left disappointed by the prices and corporate atmosphere brought in by the new ownership. Despite the mixed reviews, the location and beach views seem to be a consistent highlight. Whether it's a mid-morning snack, a quick sandwich, or a formal dinner, Sammy's seems to cater to a variety of tastes and preferences. An overall perspective might be to expect decent food and service, but perhaps temper those expectations when it comes to cost and COVID protocols.
This is a lovely place to sit and enjoy a meal. The service is excellent—can't find anything to complain about. It was quite busy, but everything was well organized, and the staff were polite and always served with a smile. The food was delicious too!
The scones I had mid-morning were delicious and fresh. However, the mask protocols were concerning. One staff member pulled down her mask to answer my questions about the menu and then continued to handle food without washing her hands. It seems like the COVID protocols are not being properly followed.
My experience at this restaurant was exceptional. The staff was extremely welcoming, the food was delightful, and the beach views were breathtaking. I highly recommend eating here, and I look forward to returning soon.
After taking a walk on the beach in the bright sunshine, a sudden squall caught us off guard and drenched us to the bone. It was definitely time for some warm food. We headed into Sammy's, which was quite busy since it was Sunday lunch. Since we were feeling chilly, we ordered soup, toasties, and sausage and mash for my granddaughter. The chowder I had was outstanding, filled with generous chunks of fish. My granddaughter loved the sausage and mash; it disappeared in no time! The staff were friendly and welcoming, making it a wonderful end to a very cold downpour.
My family visited this restaurant during the long weekend. Unfortunately, we had to wait almost an hour for our food, which was longer than we expected. While the food was decent, it felt a bit pricey. However, the outdoor dining area provided beautiful views.
