Recently I discovered Selvática, locate... read more I love ice cream, and when I visit Barcelona, I regularly seek out local ice cream shops to savor the types and flavors. Recently I discovered Selvática, located on the Carrer d'Aribau, not far from Plaça Molina. It is a neighborhood shop, far from the waves of tourists that populate parts of Barcelona. The shop is no frills with counters, but no formal eating area. It offers pastries, coffee, and exquisite ice cream. When I was there I selected a scoop of Almond ice cream and Coconut ice cream. The flavors were superb, rich, and the ice cream has texture and body. The price point is reasonable. I also admired the pastries and other baked confections. Marvelous temptations. Its location may challenge some, but it is worth the bus ride or even walk (the street here rises toward the mountain area of Barcelona). The staff is attentive and helpful, very friendly. Definite place to take the kiddies too.

This ice cream parlour the previous one in the same location but has loads more vegan options (about 15 different flavours, all of which are clearly labelled with a green vegan V, see pictures). There are a lot of ice cream places in Gracia but this is the only one that I've seen that often has a queue out the door! Updated from previous review on 2021-07-19
