Feedback
Good value for money for a Michelin star restaurant. The food is more than correct. I chose the tasting menu with wine pairing. The selection of wines is correct, with its pluses and minuses, but for the price of the pairing I have nothing to criticize. The chanterelles in the first appetizer had not been cleaned properly and were earthy when chewed. In the rum and vanilla ice cream, the flavor and alcohol of the rum predominated over the vanilla and honestly it was not good. This dessert with the ensaimada seemed very 'poor ' to me in presentation, flat without colors or originality beyond the use of old cow fat for the ensaimada. The quail was really good. The hake was perfectly prepared but the oil used in the pilpil was, for me, too predominant in flavor and overall nothing striking. Their cheese selection is frankly outstanding. The floor of the restaurant is quite deteriorated and would need a little maintenance as would the walls another coat of paint. The chairs are canteen chairs, quite uncomfortable, not what you would expect from a restaurant with this award. Finally, and what for me makes my rating that would initially be 4 stars go down to 3 is the following situation: After dessert I ask for the bill, which takes almost 15 minutes to arrive. At that time I observed another table who had ordered the tasting menu just like us finishing up and ordering a coffee, so they were served the petit fours. There was another table next to it that they had also finished and without drinking coffee they served the petit fours. When paying I asked what criteria they used to serve the petit fours since they had not been served to us. They said their criteria was to order coffee. Then I said that the other table had been served without having ordered coffee and their response was that at that table they are known to the restaurant and have that privilege. Excuse me, but how should I take this type of comment and action from a restaurant of this category? Although it is a cheap Michelin, it is not a cheap and good restaurant that pays my bill like any other. Either you serve everyone the petit fours or you serve them to no one. It may seem like complaining for the sake of complaining, but that type of response seemed disrespectful to me as a customer and disrespectful. In all the Michelins that I have been to so far, they have served me their petit fours after finishing the last dessert, regardless of the coffee. I understand that since this Michelin is low-cost, they save on some things, but this seemed to me as a customer to be disrespectful. By the way, my wife did order coffee, but at the beginning of the meal because she was not feeling very well, so, if it is due to costs, we will pay for a coffee. When I mentioned it, they offered me the petit fours but I declined, the personal offense had already been committed. There are other failures that I am not going to mention that should not happen in a star restaurant, but I am not going to list them all because as I said, it is a cheap Michelin restaurant and I can overlook them due to the price of the ticket. I think this restaurant is more of a Bib Gourmand than a star restaurant.
We had a great lunch, very good food. We went for á la carte. Service is great and attentive, with a good pace. The dishes are creative. I had the sweetbreads as starter (photo) , and it was fantastic. As main dish we went for the Picanha. A much different take of the Brazilian meat, but really good.
