I especially enjoy... read more At River Oaks, my server was attentive and friendly, and I didn’t have to wait long to be served. Both the food and lemonade arrived quickly. I especially enjoyed the lemonade—it struck a perfect balance between tartness and sweetness and tasted authentic, unlike typical fountain drinks or prepackaged mixes. The Texas smashed potatoes were delicious, and the meatloaf was also very satisfying. The chips and queso stood out as excellent. River Oaks offers a fantastic menu, making it an ideal spot to grab a meal after a hike in one of the state parks beyond Bandera. There’s a beautiful river behind the restaurant, along with limited outdoor seating.

I tr... read more River Oaks offers excellent classic American cuisine. My wife enjoyed the chicken fried steak, served with a side of cabbage that was absolutely delicious. I tried the Dr Pepper barbecue burger, and the barbecue sauce was outstanding. The restaurant features a full bar and a variety of beers, though the menu does not include any signature cocktails. After your meal, you can take a pleasant walk along a path behind River Oaks that leads to an open field by the river.
