The bathrooms could really use an update; they feel outdated. The place could benefit from a fresh look overall. However, the music is still enjoyable.
Tequila Sunset is situated in one of the more challenging areas of Baltimore, so it's not for those who are easily intimidated. I had an enjoyable experience, though be aware there's a two-drink minimum along with a $5 cover charge. Essentially, I end up paying for an extra drink just to enter, plus the two drinks to stay. While the atmosphere can be a bit rough around the edges, it does offer a unique club experience; think dimly lit with tables, chairs, and a crowd that often sports outfits from the '70s and '80s, which can be quite amusing. The dance floor is small, accommodating only about 10 to 15 people, so be prepared to get cozy. I must say, the vibe is quite different from other places—if you're comparing it to Melba's, for example, where the cover is also $5 before 10pm and you’re not pressured to buy drinks. Many guests seem to be locals or familiar faces from previous visits. My advice? Only go if you're looking for a change of scenery, and be sure to lower your expectations significantly. With just a few blinking lights and a laid-back atmosphere, you'll be set for a night at Tequila Sunset! Despite all this, I did have a great time—it certainly offers a refreshing shift from the usual nightlife.
