I've visited Japan many times and paid a fortune for the best tuna sashimi. Yet the best I've ever had I found in this wonderful restaurant with unbelievable service and a world class Japanese chef. What an amazing find!! Very authentic Japanese. I can't say enough about what an incredible place this is.

There's a bit of fusion involved, which I don't normally love in s Japanese restaurant, but here it works. Being in a rural area, Orita's 2 makes sure to include some more hearty options - and example of a winter special might be a slow braised lamb shank in mirin and broth - a very Japanese twist on a classic Aussie winter meal. All the traditional Japanese dishes are also on the menu, and it's always worth asking if there are any specials not listed - sometimes chef comes across a batch of something wonderful in limited quantities, always say yes if that happens! A heavy emphasis on local produce, and everything is of the highest quality. Good selection of beers and wines - and a good selection of sake too. Like most places in the area, they are not into sittings per se, so just take your time, relax and enjoy.

Tuna belly with avocado,... read more We visited Orita 2 for dinner last weekend and had a lovely dinner utilising such great produce and care with preparation and cooking. Tuna belly with avocado, so simple and delicious, large grilled prawns butterflied and cooked in their shells, one of the best seaweed salads I have tried and tender beef cooked blue as asked. The team in this restaurant are doing some really good things and I would think this is a small gem that may go un noticed so I would highly recommend a visit. It's a quirky little place but so food is prepared by a very esteemed Japanese chef so get there quickly.

Carla's service is fantastic and not to be missed. The wine list features an outstanding Pinot Noir from Arthur's Seat that is a must-try. The menu offers delicious dishes with unique flavors, including the signature Birchwood Lane wine.

The attention to detail was evident in every aspect: courses, presentation, service, and atmosphere. The staff was friendly, efficient, and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
