Dropped in on way back from very over priced eateries in the West and it was a pleasure to get good food at a decent price. Friendly good staff was an added bonus. It is a shame that the restaurants seem to have lost the plot since the lockdown and are charging way over the top for ordinary food. Stopped off in the Pillar House for food on the way through Ballinasloe based on the fantastic reviews and I was not disappointed. Got a cozy table beside the open fire with a view of the whole pub and the craic was great to watch between the staff and the customers. The staff were fantastic. Really attentive and checked on us regularly. Stuart was serving us and and was great with the kids making sure they got everything they needed, he’s a credit to the business! I ordered the beef stir fry and it was superb. The rest of our travelling party were delighted and if we had more time we’d have had desserts they looked lovely. All in all, very happy with our visit and hopefully we’ll get to call again.
