We visited recently for lunch and while the meal was ok it wasn't anything to rave about. Very basic 'pub' food. Maybe less options with more attention to detail could be the way to go. Great pensioner deals and this was the vibe the bistro gave off. View all feedback.
What Kaylin Hamill doesn't like about Ballarat & District Trotting Club Inc:
Recently a family event, security personnel visited much overzeal and constantly on the point of intimidation participants for no good reason, food was absolute garbage, most not eating it at all, venue was packed and stuffy. There are much better places in Ballarat for... great features. Not in a pleasant evening, hungry and safety-conscious employees left around ppl with bad and aggressive attitude. Never again! With covid practices on site, employees were very professional in dealing with patrons as they arrived at the venue. Politics thoroughly explain what was necessary. Bar service was a bit strange with people who last stand at the bar before...others there first. The food was a little average. Chicken Kiev was strongly used with garlic, making it a garlic-bearing meal. The seafood was better but slightly overcooked. Desserts were on the small side for the price. The place itself is brilliant, and could get higher votes if the food improved a little.
My wife's parents invited us to visit the Interdominon heats on Bray Raceway. Our table was perfectly positioned with a view of the finish line. The three course meal was a farewell. Besides the dessert plates, which were tasty and imaginative, the appetizers and the main... were all disappointing.
We have visited the Terrace Restaurant on numerous occasions in the past, but last night's experience, after a twelve-month hiatus, exceeded all expectations. The overall cost for a two-course meal, entry, and a racebook was very reasonable, so we did not have high expectations. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the exceptional evening we had. The dining setup, with a table for two overlooking the racetrack, was beautifully arranged with a linen tablecloth, decorative flowers, and a clean, clear menu and wine list. The spacing between tables was ample, making for a very impressive first impression. The main course offerings included pork belly and chicken, both of which were delicious. The pork was thick, tender, and perfectly complemented by crackling, sitting on a bed of mash with beans, apple sauce, and gravy. The chicken portions were also generous and tender. Desserts, including pudding and lemon tart, were well presented and enjoyable. The wine list was comprehensive and reasonably priced. The table service for drinks and meals was excellent, with a well-trained and supervised team of waitstaff ensuring a smooth dining experience. The only suggestion for improvement would be to reduce the noise from the Punters' Club in the dining area. Despite this minor issue, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Terrace Restaurant and commend the Club, caterer, and staff for a job well done. The presence of a trotting meeting added to the lively atmosphere, making it a great night overall. Hats off to the CEO, Committee, and staff of the BTC for providing a memorable dining experience.
We try different venues when we go on holidays. The club has it all. The food was very good and the price was reasonable. The service was very good Would go back to this Club again and again.
