Apparently it rebranded as The Aureate about 8 months ago. We did notice the improved and excellent service and changed menu but not the rebrand! So my last review was actually for The Aureate...whoops! View all feedback.
What Marion Labadie doesn't like about Aureate Restaurant:
The bar and restaurant are in a 70s style that has been well maintained and somewhat updated, but retains it period flavour. The food was a little inconsistent and some menu items were not available, but the meat dishes were a highlight. Service was of quality and friendly. The bar offering was more impressive. I had a very nice Long Island Iced Tea and a dry martini that is almost certainly the best on offer at a Ba... View all feedback.
We had a meal there when we were staying at the motel. Staff were friendly, & dining room deco was okay. but we were the only ones eating there which made us feel a bit awkward so I think they need to advertise it more to motel guests & to the general public. The menu should change on a regular basis unless there is a dish that a lot of people choose & say whether they liked it.
Very Old building, changing owner and changing New Chef Cook. Steak is alright. We will be back but it would be a while.
We've been coming here for years. If we have business meetings or school reunions in Ballarat it's so convenient to be able to sleep over and just waddle a short distance back to our room afterwards! Accommodation here is central, cheap, clean, quiet and like ourselves a tad dated. Thats ok. We only want to sleep and rest there. In the restaurant one can utilise a small function room if quiet is needed or a larger one or choose a nook of the public area. The menu is varied and offers wide choice. Execution varies from pedestrian to perfect. One thing which is outstanding at the moment is the service. The waiter and bar staff are polite, attentive, mature, unobtrusive and efficient. Such a pleasure! Quite a few of our party of over sixties felt the serving sizes to be small. My fish main course seemed more like an entree and was overcooked. I had a beautifully presented and equally delicious creme caramel for dessert. The coffee was excellent , the wine list large. We felt no pressure to leave before we were ready which is always appreciated. Usually we head off next morning and have breakfast up the street as Ballarat has a lot of cafes to choose from. But breakfast is available if required.
Good service, good food and good room!!! Friendly staff and a great meal :-) No complaints at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'
Full buffet breakfast continental and cooked $10. Gluten free cereal and bread available, this impressed me being Coeliac.
