The Heritage Bar and Restaurant

The wood-fired pizzas are delicious and it was delightful to sit by the fire. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

During our two-night stay at The George Hotel, we dined at The Heritage Bar. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The ambiance was delightful with a great atmosphere.

Five of us went for lunch. It was nice and warm. However the food was not. The Peking duck pancakes were served cold, on supermarket bought wrappers. The roquette salad was a handful of wilted rocket. The beef rib was barely warm, especially near the bone, indicating inadequate reheating. Some chips were lukewarm. We sat there for at least 30 minutes after we had finished and no one removed our plates, or offered us any service. For relatively expensive meals, these were very disappointing.

We stopped for lunch and were impressed by the great service and delicious food. Our group tried the Ballarat Coopers Pale and pie competition beef cheek and mushroom pie, which was sensational. We also enjoyed a variety of wood-fired pizzas and the salt and pepper squid, which was the most tender and flavorful I've ever had. Overall, it was a fantastic choice for lunch and I highly recommend it.

Such a pleasant experience. Delicious food-in particular the arancini balls... and such great and friendly staff. They genuinely like being there. Such a rare thing to see!
