Came here on a busy night and was able to get a table for 1. Staff friendly. I ordered a Steak with Pepper Sauce, Grilled corn and a Moscato wine.Had a lovely meal, only negative was that it came to about $50, which I found...pretty expensive and I didn't even get the most expensive steak. So for a table of 4+ can be a very expensive dinner. What Guido Windler doesn't like about Ballarat Steakhouse:
Nice tasty food but small and EXPENSIVE, Steak and a couple of chips $52!!! Staff terribly slow and laid back. Horrible hard wood chairs. Not very intimate at all. Nice clean facilities and great location. Definitely a one-of visit... View all feedback.
Went here for lunch recently with a friend. Prices were much higher than posted on website. The waiter offered my friend a choice of sauces she chose mushroom, it obviously came from a bottle but what we weren't told until we paid the bill was that it cost an extra $5! Overall pleasant enough but ordinary and very poor value for money.
Amazing service, beautiful steak and vegetables. Sticky date pudding to die for. Second time here, and no disappointments. Expensive, but worth it.

Meals were the best I've had in a very long time. Staff are friendly and keen to help with any questions you have. I certainly will be back, loved it
Used to be a regular patron of the Ballarat Steakhouse.....and it used to be beautiful. Admittedly I haven't been there for just over 12 months, but cannot believe how much it has changed it that time. Booked for 20 and they expected a $100 deposit which I refused to pay. Arrived there at 8pm. Drink orders were taken and didn't take long to arrive. Took 45 minutes for them to take meal orders and it was not busy at all. By 9.30 pm we were still waiting for mains. Complementary bread and butter was brought out which would have been lucky to feed a mouse. An entree of grilled Camembert was ordered and arrived and was the most disgusting thing ever. A $4 Coles branded Camembert on a bed of cut up iceberg lettuce, seared for a second on the grill prior to be being served. Then to the mains......steak cooked to medium.....char grilled on the outside and slightly pink on the inside and again, clearly a Coles cut of meat. No quality there whatsoever. The chicken......black on the outside and inedible. The chips.....over cooked and from McCains. And to pay extra for sauce is disgusting. You need sauce to try to cover the taste of the poor quality meat. Ballarat Steakhouse pull up your socks and start cooking like professionals. You pay through the nose and you expect great food. Sorry but we won't be returning and word of mouth will hurt.
