What Amy doesn't like about Proper Fish:
While the fish of their award winning fish chips was indeed delightful (a light batter and delightfully flaky), we were disappointed by everything else we tried. The fries were bone dry, and lacked flavor even after dousing it in ketchup and salt. The cod chowder had large chunks of fish in it, but again lacked any distinct flavor.Service was rather slow for 2:30pm on a weekday, and took about 30 minutes for our item... View all feedback.

Only sharing my experience here makes me long for her food and makes me feel like going back there for a mouthwatering lobster roll.
Large portion, $19.50 for 1 big fish and chunky chips. British style battered fish. Fried texture and color were good. Flavors were kind of plain. Missing some taste. Vinegar tasted like diluted, had to put a lot of ketchup to compensate.
The best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time and definitely the best fish and chips I’ve had in the states. Everything from the chips to the mushy peas to the batter on the fish to the fish itself is fantastic. The 2 Irish twin sisters who work here are also very friendly and made me feel right at home. Don’t let the wait for food deter you, put your order in and then go for a walk along the waterfront trail while you wait, it’s worth it!
So we were born British, and we ate more than our fair share of British fish and chips over our time before we turned to the states. That was as good as you go to the Pacific Northwest (if you don't go across the Canadian border to White Rock, but I'm digressing... In rough order the fish was the first rate: plump and firm, fleshy and juicy, with a big dough, which is oh so hard to find here. The chips were definitely above the par: a small Craspier when you would find most British chippies, but ready to be doused with vinegar and salt. The muddy peas were an _little_ disappointment, honestly not really muddy, more like a cake. In my opinion, good mushy bases should be more like a sauce, and the whole point is that you cannot really find whole heirs. These had more the consistency of the potato maize, and a bit too minty. But everyone to his own. But all that said is a GREAT fish and chips. Two thumbs from my wife and me!
Great little place. Homemade tars sauce, thick chips and perfectly crispy freshly cooked fish. The food is excellent and I love that they even contain correct mushy peas. As a British person who started the United Kingdom since Covid was very missing, this place is a small piece of heaven.
