I wanted to use the restroom before ordering and dispite of offering to hold the as proof that I was a customer/buying, the nice lady refused to let me use it before ordering. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: 20–30 Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2 View all feedback.
Stopped by after work one day with a friend and we were intrigued by the unique menu and setup that Taco Ssam had. This was my first time seeing slot machines in a restaurant? Seemed like a few people were there to play. The menu was set up where you could order traditional Mexican food and then Korean fusion. There was a great variety of both options and the prices of tacos were pretty cheap $3 per taco). SERVICE: 5/5 FAST FOOD! Got our order within 5 minutes of ordering. I didn't go during peak hours, so the restaurant was pretty empty. The hostess immediately sat us down and would frequently check back on us throughout our meal. She was super observant! I didn't know that there was a lock code on the women's bathroom men's did not have), but she noticed I was going to wash my hands and ran over to enter the passcode for me. FOOD: Salsa Chips: 4/5 This comes complimentary with your meal, but I thought these were actually better than the tacos. The salsa wasn't too watery which I despise). Al Pastor Taco: 3/5 I always get an Al Pastor taco whenever I get tacos, and I can say this is probably this was mediocre. There was a decent amount of meat, but I couldn't really taste or see the pineapple bites. Seemed like too much sauce for me on top. Bulgogi Taco: 3/5 I was expecting more out of this taco. Bulgogi is usually juicier, but the meat in this was very dry. If you're in the area, definitely check them out!
Pretty cute place and an interesting set up. I think I saw some slot games in there. Someone comes by and brings you a menu. I opted for the Birria Tacos and the Elote. Food was pretty quick but overrall a little underwhelming in flavor. It was decent but bit as flavourful as I would have liked it to be. We both also ordered a draft beer which came in a large 23 oz for only $7 which was fantastic. Service was okay otherwise and not sure if I'd be back to try their other items.
Nice place, I loved the tacos here with the beef broth, however the Katsu could have been a lot less overdone and tough. The vibes are nice the staff is lovely, and the portions are huge!
Was popular. They made sure I had utensils. The food was very tasty and offered many items I never had before.
Next, I tried the Carne Asada Burrito, which is huge! It was just missing that salsa that would have really hit the spot for me. You can choose from two types of protein, two kinds of beans, and two varieties of rice. Among all the places serving burritos, I'd rate them around 4.8, just because of the salsa! The Ssam Box was a wonderful surprise—super delicious! The portion sizes are just right for one person; I wouldn’t recommend sharing because it's so good you'll want to finish the entire bento box. I love that it's not salty and doesn't contain MSG, which I'm sensitive to; I didn’t notice anything at all. The flavors were just what I was expecting, and it came with three corn tortillas, sour cream, and two sauces: one red and one green. As for the ambiance, I didn't pay much attention since I was doing takeout and headed to the grocery store next door. The inside is somewhat dimly lit due to the bar, but there’s outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the Annandale atmosphere. Once I started eating, I couldn’t help but think, "OMG, this is amazing!" This review comes from someone who has spent half her life in East LA, surrounded by authentic Mexican food. Now, all I need to do is try their tacos!
