Located right in BSP this resto was a favorite with locals as well as tourists food was uniformly good and tasty with a bit of flare. Service was initially slow but picked up quickly once everyone got into the rhythm. View all feedback.
What christopheboucher doesn't like about Le Diapason:
The restaurant is located in an exquisite location in old Baie saint Paul. The menu is varied and great however, the food was slightly underwhelming. Would still go back for a quick lunch. View all feedback.
Nice little establishment, food sandwiches) were lovely and service was very friendly in the middle of a rainstorm. Cleaned our seats for us before we sat outside under the awning. Would recommend..
This was one of the best meals we have ever eaten in our lives. And we are really big time foodies. We ordered the full meal. For appetizer the tuna tartar, which was so fresh and delicious, and a good portion, and the poutine which was not French fries but Jerusalem hearts, omg, to die for. As recommended by our host. And the we had the turbot which was delicious and steak flank with potatoe gratin and so many delicious flavors on one plate. It was culinary heaven. And then desert we had the cheesecake with raspberry Coulas and vanilla crème Brule marvelous. So good. Best restaurant in town. And amazing service, and ambiance.

I was a tad disappointed because this restaurant was rated number one on many of the sites we had consulted. The salmon I ordered was tasty but slightly overcooked. It wasn't as fresh as it could have been. However, it was paired perfectly with bok choy! The service was very good. The bar was beautiful.
My wife and I decided to try the Diapason for dinner on our last evening stay in Baie-Saint-Paul, and were glad we did do so. My wife has some dietary restrictions but had done some research prior to our vacation, and the Diapason had enough menu choices that could accommodate. We were served by Eve, who it turns out is one of the proprietors. She provided informative assistance in our selections, and personable and attentive service once we did order. Our various dishes were all very flavourful and the presentation excellent, in the fashion of French cuisine. Eve not only knew the menu in detail, but was equally knowledgeable in their wine list, and helped us select one that we thoroughly enjoyed. The only negative comment I would offer is that as we had no reservation, we were sat at a small table on the terrasse near the street side. This put us next to a very busy street corner on a Saturday night, with both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The traffic noise is of course not fault of their own and did not spoil our experience, but if you are looking for a quieter experience, I would recommend reserving in advance and request an interior table. Thanks to the Diapason and Eve in particular for making our last evening in Baie-Saint-Paul an enjoyable one.
