Joe Smoked Meat - Baie-Saint-Paul

We ordered two regular-sized spaghetti dishes with smoked meat, and they were huge portions! If you're not very hungry, it's best to stick with the smaller size. There was an overwhelming amount of meat compared to the limited quantity of spaghetti. Even though all 8 of us ordered the same dish, only 2 of us ended up getting sick with stomachaches and diarrhea. It's unclear if this was just a coincidence or not. The prepackaged bread served at the beginning with butter was stale and not fresh. The service was polite, but there were too many customers waiting to be served with only 1-2 staff members working.

This restaurant is a fantastic spot for delicious smoked meats! I have tried smoked meats in Montreal and NYC (more pastrami variety), and this place is the best in my opinion. The meats are juicy, not fatty, and full of flavor. I enjoyed the salad entree, and my always hungry 19-year-old son loved his Garnei. The desserts, carrot and chocolate cakes in our case, were also very tasty. Overall, it's a perfect place for lunch. I even purchased some packages of smoked meat and other products from the shop with the same name across the street to take home. I highly recommend it!

Limited experience with smoked meat restaurants, but the best that I have had to date. I thought the smoked meat club sandwich was exceptional and could have that again and again. If you have never had smoked meat sandwiches, it will remind you of a pastrami sandwich.

This restaurant was highly recommended as a place to eat smoked meat. As an American, I was expecting something different from what we got. I learned that Montreal smoked meat is much like what Americans call corned beef. It was very tasty and the portions were very generous. Staff was extra friendly.

I love Joe Smoked Meat. The addition of Jazz and Blues music in the side dinning room with music memorabilia is a plus. It's a winner.
