I stayed at a hotel right across from Moe Pyae San and I had a few meals there. My favorite dish was the eggplant salad. All the dishes I ordered were delicious, served in large portions, and very affordable. I highly recommend you to visit and try it out.
We had a delicious and affordable meal at this restaurant. Our order included stir-fried watercress and mushrooms, stir-fried mixed vegetables, vegetable noodle soup, and coconut rice. We were surprised to find that the noodle soup contained egg, as it was not listed on the menu. It's always a good idea to double check if you have any dietary restrictions. Fortunately, my husband had no issue with it and enjoyed the soup. The rest of our dishes were vegan and tasted fresh and healthy. The coconut rice was a standout dish. The service was a bit slow, but we have come to expect that in Myanmar, as everything is prepared fresh.
Although Moe Pyae San may not have an attractive exterior or interior, the food is delicious and priced very affordably, with prices at least half of what you'll find in other vegetarian restaurants in the area. I dined there three times during my visit to Bagan/Nyaung U and never paid more than 3000 for a meal with two or three dishes. It's worth mentioning that I didn't have any stomach issues after eating there, so that's not something to worry about in Myanmar. Additionally, while they do serve chicken for locals or upon request, the menu is mostly vegetarian and vegan.
The food here is delicious and so incredibly cheap! I really recommend the hot and sour veg (if you can handle heat! or the tofu curry. My friend had the steamed rice and veggies option and said it was very flavourful. The setting is a little hard to find and it’s fairly hot and a little dusty, but couldn’t fault the food.
The perfect place if you're vegetarian/vegan or just miss eating vegetables and not greasy food : I tried the tomato salad, aubergine salad and fried water grass, all yummy! Definitely surprised by the tomato salad in the best way. Water is even cheaper than what you'd pay in front of the temples in Bagan! I can only recommend! This place has seen quite a few travelers from all over the world and there'a even a Happy Cow drawing on the wall!!!
