What 277adrianw doesn't like about The Marquis:
I think the surprising thing is how this was not fully booked for breakfast, definitely a little secret as their breakfast is devine and for £20 its not far off a decent Cafe price for one and the location is so much better. Coffee and... View all feedback.
I wish I could give this restaurant 5 stars for the food as I really feel that the food is worthy of it! An excellent meal made with high-quality ingredients and presented beautifully. Each dish was very tasty and flavoursome. However, the service was really disappointing. The waiters and waitresses seemed to spend a lot of time in the kitchen entrance away from the diners. For most of our meal, there wasn’t a waiter/waitress in sight despite us and tables surrounding us having finished plates on our tables. Instead, they seemed to be having a great time chatting and laughing in the kitchen. (Absolutely no problem- but please not when guests are without drinks, are waiting for the bill or have empty plates on their table). When they did come over, there was absolutely zero charisma or enthusiasm and quite frankly, lots of the staff acted like they really didn’t want to be there. We ended up having to flag down a member of staff to get food menus, get our bill, then again to get the card machine to pay (our dessert plates were still on the table when we left). For a restaurant of this quality (and priced particularly), it’s really unexpected and a real shame.
English breakfast undercooked and cold. Eggs Benedict muffins stale and burnt. Nobody about so wife left table and walked to bar lady to get her English Breakfast replaced. I was fed up waiting for someone to attend so I ate mine! Thinking myself life is...
