A holiday on the island of Rügen... read more I just spoke with the owner of the Aalkate restaurant and inquired about the opening hours over the holidays. Yes, it's open! A holiday on the island of Rügen without eating at the Aalkate at least once is unthinkable. So, everyone, call and make a reservation! According to the owner, there are apparently problems with Google showing the opening hours.

We had reserved tables for 5:30 p.m. last Sun... read more We've been regulars at the Aalkate for many years, but something like today has never happened to us there before. We had reserved tables for 5:30 p.m. last Sunday and, full of anticipation, drove almost an hour from Glowe to Baabe in the dark, storm, and rain. We had previously discussed with the new owner that the three kinds of salmon would still be available, and I was assured it would be no problem. When we got there, we found the doors locked; the restaurant was completely dark. We tried several times to reach someone by phone, unfortunately without success. With the change of ownership, the Aalkate seems to be going downhill dramatically. Udo was always reliable. They've lost our entire family as regulars!
