Contribute FeedbackVisiting The Hengist restaurant was a mixed experience for many reviewers. While some praised the excellent service, atmosphere, and delicious food during their special occasions, others were disappointed by cold dishes, undercooked food, overcooked scones, and untrained staff. Issues such as noise levels, inappropriate conversations, lack of wine options, and disruptive patrons were also mentioned, raising concerns about the restaurant's standards during peak seasons. Despite the mixed reviews, some diners still highly recommended The Hengist for delightful Sunday roasts and enjoyable afternoon teas.
Absolutely amazing food and friendly staff. Been here many times and will be back.
We booked outside for 8 people. Lovely garden area. Service was great, all got our food together. Very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely be returning.
Had a lovely relaxing Afternoon Tea here and wasn't disappointed. The Hengist is a modern but lovely old building and the staff were very attentive. The food was good I particularly liked the quiche that came with the sandwiches. The cakes were delicious too. I have one criticism, the scones were overcooked and therefore hard, however the waitress replaced them for us. I would definitely go back there.
The mixed roast meat was full of gristle, most of which was inedible and ended up in our napkins.
