We were recently in Avignon and were anxious to try a different style of food after having so much wonderful but very rich French cuisine. A new friend recommended Lamourmandise, and it was great. The menu offered a nice selection of seafood, beef, salads and other delights, which were cooked to perfection and very, very delicious. What Théophile Dupuis doesn't like about Lamourmandise:
We tried this place for a change of style of food after having a weekend of hearty Burgundian food in Beaune. The Cuban emigre owner is an engaging fellow but doesn't have much English. We tried this place for a change of style of food after having a weekend of hearty Burgundian food in Beaune. The Cuban emigre owner is an engaging fellow but doesn't have much English. We wanted to split a seafood main course as an entree and ordered a main couse each but it lost something in the translation and we ended up with one of the ordered main courses split. No complaints as our French is very limited and the food was good and tasty in any event. A bottle of local Cairanne rose wine at 23 euros was excellent with the style of food. We were the only two diners the evening we visited so I suspect this place does most of its business during peak tourist season.
What a surprise in France. A cuban restaurant, with very very friendly service. Not the fastest, but surely the most friendliest in France. The had time to talk, give advice and everything you eat is 'homemade '. Even the fries for our children were handmade. If you want something different then the 'normal 'french restaurants then this is a good place to go.

Enjoyed both meals we had here, could not speak french but the chef helped as much as she could with translation which made a huge difference. We had been to a couple of other restaurants first trying to decipher the menu and other waiters or staff could not be bothered to try aand help with our translation. The owner/operator was attentive, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the meal and the non alcoholic cocktail I had (coco, orange and pinapple) It was delicious. I wish the two ladies much success in their business, they deserve it.
The kitchen is very good and the copious plates.the welcome is very nice. we recommend it.
