A visit to this tiny little store in the heart of the historical centre of Avellino is a must. While we were there people had driven all the way from Rome to buy panettone.
This is definitely one the best pastry shops I’ve ever been to! I ordered a cake here for my birthday and it was spectacular. The red fruits with inner chocolate inside met all my expectations and really made me happy! I would recommend to anyone in the area!
I cant help but gush about this hidden away little gem on a tiny side street off the municipal square of Avellino. The pastry here is just otherwordly good. The coffee is exquisite. The juices are organic. The cakes are things of wonder. I drive 40 minutes more than once on my holiday just to revel in the best pastry in the world.
If you are in the area of Naples or the Amalfi coast make the 40 minute detour to visit the tiny pastry shop and coffee bar of multi award winning Carmen Vecchione. It is pastry heaven for foodies. Carmen who was acknowledged as the greatest Patisseur in all of Italy in 2018 by the prestigious food publication Gambero Rosso is simply in a class of her own. Humble, self effacing and absolutely lovely. Meet local intellectuals and interesting people there for coffee and pick up one of her Panettone's, multiple winner of the best Panettone in Italy created using a very special mother yeast and long periods of special rising using only the finest artisanal ingredients. They alone are worth the trip. I absolutely loved it.
