Very veggie friendly with fresh produce and a gluten free fryer for sweet potato fries. Menu is small and mainly sandwiches and salads but has all the staples for a good veggie panini or sandwich. (Gluten free bread is available) We walked around for ages before we found this little cafe (Avalon sucks for vegetarians) and we were delighted with the place. If you are in Avalon, do yourself a favor and head there and s... View all feedback.
What whyitripped doesn't like about Cafe Metropole:
This cafe was really cute. There were two options that could be made vegan, a sandwich and a salad. I loved the salad, the sandwich was ok. I did really appreciate their beautiful outside terrace on that sunny day and the friendly staff. Some live tropical music in the background got me in the island mood. Avalon does not have the normal vegan spread that LA pride, but Cafe Metropole was the only place that had all vegan/veggie options on their menu in the area. Good sandwich and excellent cold-pressed juice. Very expensive but everything I could find!! Updated by previous review on 2022-07-04

This is my favorite place for a vegan meal in Avalon as they do so well. They also make fresh ABI for the best tasting mimosa! None of the salads are vegan but customizable. They offer chickpeas as protein

The chickpea smash sandwich was excellent as well as the veggie panini. The staff was very friendly and knew their vegan options like the back of their hand.
We got the balsamic avo toast and it was super good! The people who work here are really nice. We also got the green machine smoothie bowl. The granola is not vegan (honey) and it has a honey drizzle so make sure you ask for it without. The woman working added extra fruit for us which was super nice! I will say the smoothie bowl was a little icy. This has been the most vegan friendly place we have eaten at Catalina so far! Edit: We came back the next day and had the chickpea salad sandwich, LET ME TELL YOU IT WAS SO GOOD! I don’t even like chickpeas and I was so into it. The vegetable panini with hummus was also good, pretty basic but it’s vegan food on the island.
